Winter in Greece

Historically renowned Greece always makes us think of summer. Its Mediterranean climate ensures long and hot summers. Do you ever think of visiting it in winter time? Its mild winters have average temperatures from 10 to 15°C. High procentage of sunny days promises enjoyable outdoor activities. Since sightseeing in hot summer time can be quite exhausting it sounds so pleasant in winter time. Just imagine visiting the amazing Acropolis, Delfi and monasteries of Meteora without looking for shades. Probably most perfect time to visit would be March & April and October & November.
Being located in South Europe on the tip of Balkans it is perfectly located to be part of an attractive combined travel itinerary. One of our suggestions would be a combination of Serbia, Macedonia and Greece. Imagine travelling from culturally rich Belgrade through wild countryside of Macedonia to the Mediterranean seas of Greece. Enjoy our sample itinerary.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive to Belgrade Airport in Serbia, sightseeing tour of Belgrade, visit of Kalamegdan fort and the mausoleum of ex-yugoslav president Tito, local dinner at the bohemian quarter of Belgrade and overnight.

Day 2: Morning free time at Knez Mihajlova shopping street, drive to Smederovo, visit of Smeredevo Fortress, Danube river cruise, transfer towards Niš and overnight.

Day 3: Niš city sightseeing with a visit of Niš fortress and the Tower of Skulls, drive to Leskovac, the home of the best grill in Balkans, for lunch, transfer to Skopje in Macedonia for overnight.

Day 4: Skopje city sightseeing, visit old Bazaar, Stone Bridge and House of Mother Theresa, Matka Canyon tour and Boat trip, dinner with Folklore show, overnight.

Day 5: Drive to Veles, visit Lake Mladost and Kosturnica memorial, pass the vineyards of Kavadarci, stopover at Gevgelija – Macedonian Las Vegas on the way to Thessaloniki in Greece, overnight.

Day 6: Spend the day in charming Thessaloniki, city sightseeing, free time for shopping, overnight.

Day 7: Drive to Kalambaka,stopover at Axios Delta National Park, visit Meteora, overnight.

Day 8: Drive to Delphi, visit Delphi archeological site and museum, drive to Athens, overnight.

Day 9: Full day city tour of Athens (including visit of the Acropolis and the Acropolis museum), folklore farewell dinner and overnight.

Day 10: Free time for leisure, departure from Athens airport.
