Tour type: Self-drive with electric car

Starting: Oslo airport – Ending: Oslo airport

 

Upon arrival to the airport, you will take over the electric car, which will be your e-mission free transportation for the following week. The car company representative will be waiting for you and explain all details regarding the car. You can download an app with all locations of charging stations, which are in every city. You will be provided with all necessary cards for these stations and will be charged accordingly to the usage upon returning the car. The car also includes plugs and cables for charging at stations or even at a regular electric socket.

However, most of hotels included in the itinerary offer their own charging stations, so you will easily park and charge the car in front of your accommodation.

The electrical charging is free or at least significantly cheaper than the price of regular fuel. Also, upon returning you don’t need to return full battery as with the standard cars.

 

WHAT TO EXPECT

The 9-days tour will take you through most scenic parts of Norway. You will enjoy driving and cruising through the picturesque landscapes. . Get ready for active holidays with lots of exciting activities and good food.

Itinerary, accommodation, car rental, insurance, activities – everything is organised for you. The program can be adapted to your wishes.

Itinerary

Day 1: Oslo airport –Oslo (49km, 40min)

Upon arrival at Oslo airport pick up your rental car and drive to Oslo city. Check in at the hotel and have the rest of the day at leisure.

Services included: Electric rent-a-car for 9 days, overnight in 4* hotel in Oslo

 

Day 2: Oslo – Flam (312km, 4h 40min)

After breakfast departure from the hotel. Start your journey toward Flam. You will have plenty of opportunity on the way to stop for lunch and to charge your car. Upon arrival to Flam take one of the most scenic train rides. Over the course of one hour, the train takes you from sea level at the Sognefjord in Flåm to the Myrdal mountain station, situated at 867 metres above sea level. Breathtaking! We promise!

Day 3: Flam – Bergen (186km, 2h 30min)

Another exciting day infront of us! Start with Fjord cruise through Nærøyfjord which is featured on UNESCO’s World Heritage List. A fjord cruise through this narrow and beautiful fjord will give you the memory of a lifetime! The cruise from Flam to Gudvangen takes 2 h. When you arrive to Gudvangen we highly recomend the visit of the Viking village. Here the captivating stories of the Vikings and the era will be retold without the typical museum experience, but through a real life viking experience. They offer many activities and also delicious Viking food.

When ready take a shuttle bus that will take you back to Flam to pick up your car and start your journey to Bergen.

Day 4: Bergen

Time to relax and explore the beautiful town of Bergen. Bergen is the Gateway to the Fjords of Norway. As a UNESCO World Heritage City and a European City of Culture, the Bergen region has the ideal combination of nature, culture and exciting urban life all year around. In Bergen you can enjoy some of the finest seafood restaurants in Norway. If you are looking for things to do in Bergen, there is a large selection of activities and attractions. One of the most famous attractions is Floibanen funicular that takes you to the top of Mount Fløyen.  Check out the spectacular view of the city, play in the Troll Forest or walk on exciting nature trails.

Day 5: Bergen – Loen (284km, 5h)

After breakfast start you journey north. Take your time to stop on the way and enjoy a nice lunch with amazing views, short hike or just cinnamon bun with a cup of coffee. After arrival to Loen check in the hotel and head up to the Loen skylift. Loen Skylift brings you up from the fjord to the top of Mt. Hoven (1011 m) in only 5 minutes, and is one of the steepest cable cars in the world. In the evening you can enjoy some Spa time at the hotel.

Day 6: Loen – Briksdalen (28km, 34min) – Hellesylt (89 km, 1,30h) – Geiranger

Today you will have the opportunity to see the magic glacier from up close! Visitors from all over the world come to see the beautiful Briksdalsbreen glacier outlet, so beautifully situated amid waterfalls and high peaks. The powerful Briksdal Glacier is a part of the Jostedal Glacier National Park. See the Briksdalen valley by foot or catch a ride with one of the “Trollcars” up to the glacier.

After drive to Hellesylt and board a ferry to Geiranger. The iconic Geirangerfjord is considered one of the most beautiful fjords in the world, and is included on the UNESCO World Heritage list together with the Nærøyfjord. The fjord is also known for its spectacular waterfalls and deserted fjord farms high up on the steep cliffsides. The idyllic nature and the dramatic mountains will impress any visitor in the area.

Optional: Troll cars in Briksdalen

 

Day 7: Geiranger – Andalsnes (110km, 2h 30min)  – Lillehammer (259km, 3h 30min)

After breakfast drive toward Adalsnes via Trollstigen (from end of May till October). Trollstigen is Norway’s most visited tourist road, and this masterpiece in engineering in the midst of majestic natural landscape will make your drive a true joy ride. And look at this view!

After charging stop in Andalsnes continue to Lillehamer. Lillehammer is a ski resort town in southern Norway. We recommend a visit of Maihaugen open-air museum which displays buildings from the 1200s to the present. The nearby Norwegian Olympic Museum has exhibits chronicling Lillehammer’s 1994 Winter Olympics and features a biathlon simulator.  Dinner and overnight.

Day 8: Lillehammer – Oslo (184km, 2h 10min)

Time to go back to Oslo. After arrival free time to explore. Oslo is famous for its green spaces and museums. Viking Ship and the Kon-Tiki museums, as well as the famous Holmenkollen ski jump and the statue park of Gustav Vigeland. Check the harbour area in the city centre and walk atop of the Opera house, then take a stroll along Karl Johans street, the main shopping street to the Royal palace. Oslo can pack your day completely. Overnight in Oslo.

Drive to Oslo airport, drop off the car and catch your flight back home.
