Have you ever thought of having a meal five metres below the sea level? Most probably you have. But this experience has surely not been associated with travelling in Europe – perhaps Maldives, but for sure not Europe. However, times are changing and just last week “Under”, Europe’s first and the world’s largest underwater restaurant opened in Bally, Southern Norway. In less than two weeks, the restaurant got 7,000 bookings. If you book a table today, the first free place is 8 September. And it’s no wonder: this awe-inspiring fourty-seater restaurant featuring a talented young chef Nicolai Ellitsgaard literally plunges into five meters depth wild North Sea and resembles a hull of an upturned shipwreck – this is the ultimate place where design meets gastronomy. The 34-metre long concrete structure is simple and solid and symbolizes the tranquillity of the submarine world beneath the waves. The owners promise that Under takes you on a journey into the unknown. “In featuring the Norwegian coastal ecosystem, we are creating a new niche for underwater tourism.” The restaurant promises to create a fine dining experience based on high quality, locally-sourced produce, with a special emphasis on sustainable wildlife capture. >>UNDER RESTAURANT<<
